The Mills of Chios in Tabakika, are one of the most emblematic landmarks of the island, which is inextricably linked to the history and cultural heritage of the region. Their reconstruction has been a careful restoration process, aiming to fully preserve and reconstruct the damage caused by time and weather conditions over the last century. Their architectural form retains the characteristics of the historicity of Chios, with the use of local materials such as stone, while the details of the construction highlight the wisdom of traditional architecture. The restoration of the Mills of Chios was not just a technical maintenance process, but an act of respect for the cultural heritage of the island, which enhances the aesthetic and historical value of the site. Our office collaborated with the Architect Giorgos Bourolias.
