The design of the “Moving Urban Surfaces” apartment building is based on the idea that every human being is a unique entity. It is a multi-occupancy building that has to differentiate the appearance and floor plan of each apartment, making it unique. In this way, the repetitiveness in height is eliminated and a balanced pattern is used like a tape running around each floor and moving with a piston from left or right on a specific canvas, thus creating each underlying and overlying floor. Each recess created has its own character, acquiring colour and giving the building an identity. The general sense of the building through an invisible repetition gives the illusion of moving surfaces. Each element is unique as a whole.
