The office was founded in 1977 by the Architect Engineers Thomas Gavalas and Dora Monioudi-Gavalas.
The two of them designed, supervised and constructed more than 90 small, medium and large scale buildings of various uses.
Their realized work includes single-family houses, residential complexes, hotels, cultural and religious buildings. In addition, they have been extensively involved in numerous urban redevelopment applications in the public sector. During an exuberant working life of more than 40 years, they have always consistently followed the ethos and principles that should accompany the profession of the Architect.
Their works are scattered throughout Greece, most of them in Athens, Santorini and Chios, as well as on various islands of the Cyclades and Peloponnese.
The common background of the two founders ranges from their academic careers, professional and scientific articles on the modern history of Greek Urban Planning, to the design, the issuing of building permits and the construction of some of the first luxury hotels on the island of Santorini in the early 1980s.
The constructional integrity - hence the durability - of the final built result has always been a fundamental requirement for quality assurance.
Theodora Monioudi-Gavala holds a PhD in Architecture-Engineering, and is retired professor of the History of Architecture in the Department of History-Archaeology (Cultural Heritage Management and New Technologies), University of Patras. She studied architecture at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and did her doctorate at the School of Architecture and Engineering, National Technical University of Athens. She has worked on special architectural studies (to regenerate historic city centres and traditional settlements, and to restore monuments) and on architectural and urban planning studies. With many years of activity researching the history of the urban planning and architecture of settlements in Greece, she has participated in international conferences and holds memberships in a number of learned societies. She has been awarded a Commendation from the Academy of Athens (1996). She is author of 9 books.
